Key Responsibilities:

1. Subject Knowledge

- Maintain high expectations and standards while fostering a positive school culture.
- Assist in setting targets within the music curriculum.
- Develop engaging musical experiences that enhance students' skills and appreciation for global music traditions.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in music education, including new technologies and teaching strategies.
- Help coordinate music-related events such as concerts, recitals, and school productions.
- Participate in necessary meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Promote inclusion by celebrating diversity through music and ensuring equal access for all students.
- Track and document student progress through regular assessments and evaluations.

2. Curriculum Design and Adaptation

- Create dynamic and engaging learning experiences to enhance musical knowledge and performance skills.
- Align lesson plans with the National Curriculum for England (NCfE), incorporating cross-curricular connections as appropriate.
- Differentiate instruction to support all learners, ensuring inclusivity for varied skill levels.
- Utilize digital technology to enrich music education experiences.
- Strategically plan the use of resources, including instruments, software, and educational materials.
- Communicate students' learning progress to parents, providing insights into their growth, mindset, and musical achievements.

3. Learning and Teaching

- Cultivate a positive learning environment that promotes high expectations and active student participation.
- Establish a culture of trust and respect, encouraging collaboration and confidence in musical expression.
- Inspire a love for music by introducing a variety of genres, styles, and international perspectives.
- Maintain a student-centered teaching approach, tailoring lessons to individual interests and learning paces.
- Encourage involvement in music-related extracurricular activities and school performances.
- Assist students in transitioning between year groups by building strong foundational skills.

4. Collaboration and Community

- Regularly reflect on and assess teaching practices to continuously improve effectiveness.
- Engage in coaching, peer observations, and professional development sessions.
- Collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Partner with teaching assistants, external music professionals, and educational support staff to provide comprehensive music education.
- Participate in action research to explore innovative teaching methods.
- Contribute to the school’s co-curricular offerings, such as choir, orchestra, or band programs.
- Strengthen relationships with parents and the community, promoting musical growth beyond the classroom.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching credential with at least three years of experience in music education.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.
- Sensitivity to the unique learning needs and abilities of students.
- Proficient in IT for classroom instruction and administrative tasks.
- Familiarity with various musical instruments, music software, and performance techniques.
