JOB PURPOSE

Aiglon College is a distinguished international boarding school in the Swiss Alps, known for providing a challenging and transformative holistic education in a safe, nurturing environment. Accredited by CIS, our school serves 480 students aged 7-18 from 70 different countries. Our distinctive learning philosophy is evident from the Junior School through to the Senior School, where students are prepared for Cambridge IGCSEs and the IB Diploma Programme.

We are looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant from August 2026, who will work closely with a senior school student with a neurodiverse learning profile. This position will focus on assisting the student in accessing the curriculum, developing organizational skills, fostering independence, and promoting social-emotional well-being within the senior school context.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with teachers, the Learning Support team, pastoral staff, and parents to ensure the student is fully engaged in both academic and community aspects of school life. Experience working with neurodiverse learners (such as those with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, executive functioning differences, or other specific learning needs) is highly advantageous.

The role is expected to involve 25-35 hours of support each week and is term-time only.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Provide individualized support in the classroom and on a one-to-one basis to enable the student to access the curriculum and participate actively in learning activities.


Develop a positive, respectful, and supportive relationship with the student, fostering confidence, independence, and self-advocacy.


Assist the student in building effective organization, planning, and executive functioning skills, including time management and task prioritization.


Help the student understand instructions, break tasks into manageable steps, and maintain focus during lessons when appropriate.


Encourage the student’s social and emotional development by helping them develop strategies for managing stress, workload, and interpersonal interactions.


Support the student in establishing effective study habits and learning strategies tailored to their specific learning profile.


Facilitate transitions between lessons, activities, or learning environments as needed.


Promote increasing independence over time, while providing necessary guidance and support.


Enhance the student’s well-being and assist them in accessing appropriate support systems within the school as necessary.

Support for Teachers and the Learning Support Team


Work alongside teachers and the Learning Support department to implement agreed-upon strategies and accommodations during lessons.


Monitor and report on the student’s engagement, progress, and learning needs.


Provide feedback to relevant staff regarding the effectiveness of strategies and interventions.


Assist teachers in adapting materials or methods as needed to support the student’s access to learning.


Aid in tracking the student’s academic progress and overall well-being.


Contribute to meetings regarding the student’s support plan as appropriate.


Help ensure that learning environments remain supportive, inclusive, and structured for the student.

Support for the School


Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with teachers, pastoral staff, learning support specialists, and other relevant professionals.


Communicate with parents and boarding staff as necessary, guided by the Learning Support team.


Uphold confidentiality while facilitating effective communication among relevant stakeholders.


Continuously review and enhance personal professional practice and knowledge regarding neurodiversity and inclusive education.

Support for the Curriculum


Assist in utilizing information and communication technology within the classroom.


Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in your care or contact with.


Ensure tasks are performed with appropriate attention to Health and Safety.


Engage in relevant professional development, including adherence to appraisal/performance management principles.


Embody the ethos of Aiglon and advocate for the school’s vision and objectives while demonstrating personal integrity and professionalism.


Attend relevant staff meetings, parent meetings, and open evenings.

OTHER TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those related to safeguarding children and young people.


Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Head of Learning Support to ensure the smooth operation of the team.


Comprehend the School’s Guiding Principles and consistently uphold the School's ethos.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
