With responsibility for the English programme, and supporting the teachers of Te Reo Māori, Japanese and Mandarin, you will provide leadership and direction within the school.

Welcoming our largest student cohort ever in 2026, JPII is the school of choice on the West Coast. This role is ideal for an experienced or aspiring leader with the drive and enthusiasm to ensure English and Languages thrive, inspiring both students and colleagues.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have proven experience teaching NCEA Level 3 and Scholarship
  • Lead and manage curriculum review and change, including innovative texts, pedagogical approaches, and assessment
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in literacy across the curriculum
  • Be highly student-centred, collegial, and committed to collaborative leadership

  • Supportive middle and senior leadership teams
  • Great students and an engaged parent community
  • The opportunity to shape learning in a small, state-integrated Catholic school for Years 9–13
  • The lifestyle benefits of living on the beautiful West Coast, with affordable housing, and access to beaches, mountains, and a strong sense of community.

Applicants must be NZ registered, fully conversant with the New Zealand Curriculum.

Staff are expected to recognise and respect the school’s Catholic special character and be actively involved in the total life of the school, in a manner which respects the religious instruction given and religious observances practiced within the school.

If you are ready to lead with vision and purpose, we would love to hear from you.
