About This Role
Role Purpose
The Student Support Coordinator is a pivotal middle-leadership role designed to ensure that every student, regardless of their starting point, can access the curriculum and thrive. You will coordinate a multidisciplinary team of specialists to provide seamless support across Primary and Secondary phases. Beyond academic coordination, you will serve as a key member of the Safeguarding team, ensuring the school's protective culture is robustly managed. Key Responsibilities
1. Coordination & Personnel Management
Provide leadership for the Learning Support and EAL departments.
Line manage and appraise School Counsellors and EAL teachers.
Collaborate with the VP Teaching & Learning to ensure inclusive pedagogy is embedded across the whole school curriculum.
Liaise with the VP Secondary & Science to oversee departmental-specific interventions, ensuring EAL and SEND students can access technical language and practical lab work safely.
2. SEND, EAL & Admissions
Oversee the identification, referral, and assessment processes for students with SEND and EAL needs from Primary through to Secondary.
Admissions: Support the admissions process for new students, reviewing applications and conducting assessments to identify potential support requirements.
Maintain the Whole School Provision Map and ensure all Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are high-quality and regularly reviewed.
Coordinate with external specialists (Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, etc.).
3. Exam Access Arrangements (Cambridge)
Exam Documentation: Ensure the timely preparation and submission of all necessary documentation for students who qualify for additional support or access arrangements (e.g., extra time) in Cambridge Checkpoint, IGCSE, or A Level examinations.
Liaise with the Exams Officer to ensure all approved accommodations are implemented during formal assessments.
4. Data Analytics (GL PASS & Academic Progress)
Lead the analysis of the GL PASS (Pupil Attitudes to Self and School) assessment.
Review PASS data with senior leaders to identify students with low self-regard or school alienation and design specific interventions.
Triangulate PASS results with attainment data to identify "hidden" barriers to learning.
Report termly to the Principal on the impact of interventions regarding student wellbeing.
5. Safeguarding & Teaching
Sit as a member of the Whole School Safeguarding Team, contributing to case management.
Support the DSL in statutory compliance and record-keeping excellence.
Teaching Requirement: Depending on the candidate's profile and school needs, there may be a teaching requirement; this will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.
Person Specification (Essential Criteria)
Education: Qualified Teacher plus a recognised SEND qualification.
Experience: Significant experience in EAL/SEND coordination within an international school setting.
Leadership: Proven ability to manage diverse teams, including clinical staff like Counsellors.
Safeguarding: Advanced Safeguarding training (Level 3 or higher).
Data Literacy: Experience using GL Assessment tools (PASS, CAT4, PT Series), or equivalent.
