Humanities Teacher (Years 7–9)

Role Overview
We are seeking an outstanding and motivated Humanities Teacher to deliver a high-quality, engaging and ambitious curriculum across Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9).
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a combination of History, Geography and/or integrated Humanities, fostering curiosity, critical thinking and global awareness in line with the British National Curriculum and the school’s ethos.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Plan and deliver engaging Humanities lessons across Years 7, 8 and 9
Teach across subject areas including:
History
Geography
(Optional) Elements of global studies / integrated humanities
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
Use a range of assessment strategies to monitor progress and inform teaching
Maintain high expectations of behaviour and academic standards
Curriculum & Planning
Contribute to the development of a coherent and progressive KS3 Humanities curriculum
Ensure alignment with the British curriculum framework
Integrate cross-curricular links and global perspectives
Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and resources
Assessment & Reporting
Track and assess student progress regularly
Provide clear and constructive feedback to students
Prepare reports in line with school policy
Use data to support student achievement and intervention
Pastoral & Safeguarding
Act as a form tutor (if required) and support student wellbeing
Promote the school’s values, behaviour expectations, and safeguarding policies
Maintain accurate records of attendance, behaviour and progress
Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment
Collaboration & Professional Engagement
Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Humanities and wider school team
Participate in departmental meetings, CPD and school initiatives
Contribute to extracurricular activities, trips, and enrichment programmes
Engage positively with parents and the wider school community
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in History, Geography or a related Humanities subject
Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
Experience teaching KS3 students (Years 7–9)
Strong understanding of the British National Curriculum
Desirable
Experience in an international or British overseas school
Ability to teach across multiple Humanities disciplines
Experience with cross-curricular or thematic teaching approaches
