About you:

We are seeking an exceptional and inspiring Head of Faculty – PE, Sports & Games (Whole School – Academics) to lead our department and enhance excellence across all key stages. This role encompasses both teaching and middle leadership, with the successful candidate expected to maintain active teaching responsibilities in Physical Education, Sport, and Games, delivering high-quality practical and theoretical lessons.

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• A dynamic, enthusiastic, and well-qualified individual holding at least a B.Ed. or a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field, along with a PGCE (or equivalent) and QTS.

• A proven track record of outstanding teaching and learning in PE, Sports & Games, showcasing strong student outcomes across key stages.

• The ability to balance strategic leadership responsibilities with an active teaching schedule, exemplifying outstanding practices in both practical and classroom-based PE lessons.

• The capacity to provide clear strategic direction for the PE, Sports & Games faculty, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, participation, and achievement across all phases.

• Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing a team of PE and Sports staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and accountable culture.

• A commitment to promoting a culture of excellence in physical activity, sport, and well-being, encouraging participation, performance, and healthy lifestyles among all students.

• The ability to drive a comprehensive and inclusive extracurricular sports program, including competitive fixtures, tournaments, and inter-school events.

• A growth mindset, characterized by reflection, adaptability, and a solution-oriented approach.

• Creativity, enthusiasm, and forward-thinking abilities to inspire both students and staff through sport and physical activity.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and the wider sporting community.

• Proficiency in utilizing data and assessment tools effectively to monitor performance, enhance student progress, and improve participation and achievement in PE.
