Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic French-Spanish Teacher to join our team in August 2026.

The successful candidate will teach French to upper primary and lower secondary students and Spanish to secondary students, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The teacher will prepare students for Key Stage 3 assessments while fostering a love of languages and an appreciation of the respective cultures.

The role includes designing creative and interactive lessons, supporting students’ individual learning needs, incorporating technology in teaching, and participating in cultural activities and language events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality lessons in French (upper primary to lower secondary) and Spanish (secondary) that develop students’ language proficiency.

  • Plan engaging, student-centered lessons that promote communication skills and intercultural understanding.

  • Assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and supporting their language development.

  • Integrate digital tools, language technologies, and online resources to enhance learning.

  • Encourage participation in cultural events, language exchanges, and cross-curricular activities.

  • Support students with diverse learning needs and differentiate instruction where necessary.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to a vibrant language department.

  • Skills and Competencies

  • Native or near-native proficiency in both French and Spanish.

  • Strong knowledge of Key Stage 2–3 and lower secondary language curricula.

  • Familiarity with modern MFL teaching methodologies and assessment practices.

  • Experience in integrating technology and digital resources into language learning.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve language fluency and confidence.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in French, Spanish, Modern Languages, or a related field.

Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent).

Experience teaching French and Spanish to primary and lower secondary students.

Experience in organizing language-related cultural activities or events is preferred.

Compensation

£35,000 - £55,000 (Tax-Free Equivalent)
