Job Title: Lead SENCo
Location: Oak Tree School, Truro, TR4 9NH
Hours: 42.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Salary: £45,000.00 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

About the Role
The Lead SENCo is essential in providing exceptional support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities throughout the school. This role demands strong leadership capabilities, outstanding organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of SEND practices. The Lead SENCo collaborates with staff, students, and various teams to ensure every learner receives tailored support, care, and guidance to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead the development, upkeep, and regular revision of student passports, ensuring they are accurate, relevant, and beneficial for staff.
- Organize and oversee the annual review process within the school.
- Coordinate all invitations and scheduling for annual reviews, serving as the lead professional during these meetings.
- Manage the organization and completion of all pre-review documentation by the appropriate professionals.
- Finalize any necessary post-review paperwork and ensure submission to the relevant local authorities.
- Provide reports to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the clinical team regarding any issues from annual reviews that may affect student placements.
- Lead training initiatives across the school focused on SEND.
- Work under the guidance of the SLT.
- Support the welfare, development, and behavior of students and staff, demonstrating effective interventions and facilitating access to learning.
- Assist in the accurate application and enhancement of school policies, showcasing high standards in intervention and support.
- Help develop the Welfare Team to ensure it is a key part of the school's support systems.
- Collaborate with the broader SENDCo team to ensure that all examination access arrangements are completed correctly and punctually, taking responsibility for meeting deadlines.
- Support the SENDCo team in fulfilling all responsibilities related to the designated child-in-care teacher role, ensuring tasks are handled professionally and within the stipulated timeframes.
- Aid staff throughout the school in implementing Section F of EHCPs and enhancing their understanding and practice regarding SEND.

About You
The ideal applicant for this position will possess the following qualifications:
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A Full UK Driving Licence
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) trained.
- Experience working with a diverse age range of students.
- Training in TIS (Trauma Informed Schools) or a similar therapeutic approach, or a strong working knowledge of trauma-informed practice.
