With top-notch facilities like two rooftop greenhouses and an upcoming Secondary School, this position offers an outstanding opportunity to teach all three sciences through engaging, inquiry-driven experiences. Working alongside the Science Subject Leader, you will be instrumental in shaping our secondary and future sixth-form science curriculum, ensuring that science remains a key component of our entrepreneurial and inquiry-centered educational approach.Key Responsibilities:Curriculum Innovation: In the role of Secondary Science Mentor, you will collaborate with the Science Lead to integrate Citizens School’s entrepreneurial curriculum into science lessons, inspiring students to make connections across scientific disciplines and explore concepts through hands-on experimentation, inquiry, and creativity. Cultivate curiosity and relevance to the real world to develop a captivating science curriculum that engages learners at all levels. Adjust lesson plans to cater to diverse learning needs, working with the Inclusion team to provide targeted support for students with special educational requirements. Maintain continuity and progression within science programs, design assessments to monitor student development, and guide learners through a cycle of evaluation, feedback, and interventions to foster continuous growth.Inquiry-Based Learning: Embrace an inquiry-driven approach that transforms students into analytical thinkers and problem solvers. Utilize our rooftop greenhouses and other hands-on resources to relate scientific inquiry to real-world contexts, deepening students' understanding of the impact of science on our lives.Project-Based Learning (PBL): Lead transdisciplinary projects that integrate the British Curriculum with the International Baccalaureate’s inquiry-based learning framework. Support students as they tackle real-world challenges and develop vital skills such as teamwork, adaptability, and resilience within a scientifically rigorous context.Individualized Support: Manifest our ethos of "Everyone known and known well" by building meaningful relationships with students. Recognize each individual's strengths, needs, and goals to offer tailored support that empowers every student to reach their full potential.Team Member: As part of the Science Team, bring a positive mindset and proactive spirit to cultivate a collaborative and supportive team atmosphere. Work alongside the Science Curriculum Leader to align objectives and ensure a cohesive vision for success. Motivate and energize your colleagues while maintaining clear and supportive communication. Engage in, and when necessary, lead productive meetings, ensuring all team members remain informed through well-documented minutes.Qualifications and SkillsExpertise in science with proficiency in at least one of the following areas: Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.Proven experience with iGCSEs and delivering project-based and inquiry-led science education, ideally within the British or International Baccalaureate curricula.A strong commitment to linking classroom learning with real-world applications.
