The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive IT Coordinator to lead, develop, and manage high-quality IT initiatives for Years 1–8. This role will focus on enhancing teaching methodologies, promoting curriculum innovation, and ensuring the best possible student outcomes in IT and Computing.

In this position, you will:


Drive the strategic development of a well-organized IT curriculum for Years 1–8


Uphold high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment within IT


Support and mentor colleagues by showcasing best practices, engaging in professional dialogue, and providing targeted assistance


Assess standards through lesson observations, learning walks, and student feedback


Analyze attainment and progress data to guide planning and elevate standards


Encourage the effective and consistent use of digital technologies across the curriculum


Ensure smooth continuity and progression across Pre-Prep, Prep, and Senior School phases


Engage in overall school self-evaluation, readiness for inspections, and quality assurance processes


Foster an inclusive atmosphere, assisting students of varying abilities, including EAL, BML, and SEND learners


Work collaboratively with parents to enhance their understanding of IT learning and student progress

Qualifications and Experience

Essential


A recognized teaching qualification (B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent)


A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field


At least 3 years of experience teaching IT/Computing


Experience in Primary and/or lower Secondary education


Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and progression in IT


Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills


A collaborative approach and commitment to ongoing professional development

Desirable


Experience in a British curriculum or independent school environment


Experience in leading or supporting colleagues, or a clear ambition for leadership


Familiarity with I/GCSE IT or Computing pathways


Experience working with EAL, BML, or SEND students


Previous international teaching experience

The Ideal Candidate

This role is particularly well-suited for educators with experience in teaching IT within Primary and lower Secondary phases who wish to advance to a Subject Coordinator position in a high-performing independent school environment.

The successful candidate will:


Show a strong passion for integrating engaging, subject-specific IT and Computing skills for Years 1–8


Demonstrate a genuine interest in curriculum design, inquiry-based learning, STEM education, and assessment for learning


Exhibit a desire to develop expertise in academic strategy to enhance the growth and success of IT within the school


Possess a solid understanding of, or eagerness to learn about, the English National Curriculum, Key Stage 3, and I/GCSE IT and Computing pathways


Demonstrate emerging or established leadership qualities, with aspirations to coach, mentor, and support colleagues


Value the importance of data analysis in improving student outcomes


Be reflective, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement in teaching and learning


Be an excellent communicator and collaborator, with strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity


Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, contributing to a culture of high expectations and professional growth


Have experience teaching diverse learners, including those with EAL, BML, or SEND, or a strong willingness to develop in this area
