Responsible for: Islamic Studies Teacher Role
Main purpose
The role of the teacher is to:
Uphold the professional responsibilities of a teacher while consistently meeting the standards established by the UK and UAE Teachers’ Standards.
Qualifications and Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree and a recognized teaching credential (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed.) are required.
• A minimum of 2 years of successful teaching experience in Islamic Studies within the British Curriculum is preferred.
• Experience teaching in the UAE is considered advantageous.
Skills and Knowledge
• Knowledge of the British National Curriculum is essential.
• Understanding of diverse teaching and learning strategies is vital.
• A strong comprehension of child learning processes.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to address the needs of students.
• Skill in developing effective working relationships with students.
• Familiarity with child safeguarding policies and requirements.
• Competence in implementing effective behavior management techniques.
• Proficient in ICT, especially in using technology to enrich learning experiences.
• Knowledgeable in the safe and ethical application of AI to support educational goals.
• Awareness of UAE policies and inspection frameworks is beneficial.

Duties and responsibilities
Teaching
• Design and implement engaging lessons that cover a range of Islamic topics and concepts.
• Foster a respectful and positive learning environment that supports students' Islamic values and identity.
• Create assessments to evaluate students’ understanding of Islamic teachings and practices.
• Provide support and guidance to students regarding their personal Islamic development.
• Inspire students to engage in Islamic values and practices such as prayer, fasting, and charity.
• Promote a culture of respect, tolerance, and acceptance of various Islamic traditions.
• Infuse Islamic values into daily classroom activities and interactions.
• Utilize diverse teaching methods and resources, including technology and multimedia, to enhance learning experiences.
• Stay current with Islamic teachings and trends, incorporating relevant content into the curriculum.
• Work collaboratively with other teachers to integrate Islamic Studies with other subjects.
• Track and evaluate students' progress, offering constructive feedback to both students and parents.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress.
• Attend relevant meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions related to Islamic education.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community.
• Follow school policies and procedures regarding academic integrity, student behavior, and safety.
Whole-school organisation, strategy and development
• Contribute to the formulation, execution, and assessment of the school's policies and practices that support its vision and values.
• Positively impact the overall life and ethos of the school.
• Collaborate with others on curriculum and student development for coordinated outcomes.
• Provide coverage for absent teachers as needed.
• Lead designated extracurricular activities during and outside of school hours.
Health, safety and discipline
• Advocate for the safety and well-being of students.
• Maintain discipline and order among students, effectively managing behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment.
• Comply with the school’s centralized behavior policy.

• Engage in the school’s appraisal processes.

Management of staff and resources
• Direct and oversee support staff designated to them, and when appropriate, other teachers.
• Contribute to the recruitment and professional growth of fellow teachers and support personnel.
• Allocate and manage resources assigned to them.
• Ensure equitable and effective use of resources.
Safeguarding
• Follow statutory safeguarding guidelines (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education) along with school safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Work alongside the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) to promote student well-being, including sharing concerns when necessary.
• Advocate for the safeguarding of all students within the school consistently.
Other areas of responsibility
• Ensure full compliance with all regulations, policies, and frameworks mandated by the KHDA, BSO, and the UAE Ministry of Education.
• Assist the leadership team in preparing for and managing the KHDA inspection process, developing and executing post-inspection action plans.
• Support the aims of the UAE National Agenda.
• Maintain positive and professional communication with all KHDA and government officials and represent the school at required forums and meetings as requested by the Principal.
