The Qikiqtani School Operations within the Nunavut Department of Education is seeking enthusiastic and community-focused leaders to take on the role of Vice Principal at Attagoyuk Ilisavik. Required Qualifications

Education & Certification

• Bachelor of Education degree
• A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways to Teach Canada)

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years in a formal or informal school leadership capacity (e.g., Vice-Principal, department head, instructional coach, or teacher-leader)
• A minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience

• A demonstrated commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive school atmosphere that supports the well-being of both students and staff.
• Proven ability to assist in instructional leadership alongside the principal, with an emphasis on literacy development and inclusive teaching practices.
• Experience in facilitating instructional improvement through coaching, professional learning communities (PLCs), and using student achievement data to enhance student success.
• Skills in building and maintaining positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, families, and community members, particularly in northern and cross-cultural contexts.

Assets and Preferred Experience

Language and Cultural Assets

• Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written).
• Experience in promoting Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit-based education.
• Familiarity with supporting bilingual and ESL programs.

Instructional Leadership

• Advanced education training at the graduate level.
• A proven record of creating positive school-wide behavior and learning environments (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports).

School Operations & Systems

• Experience in executing operational directives.
