Core Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Innovation: Spearhead the incorporation of Citizens School’s entrepreneurial and inquiry-based curriculum within the secondary science department, ensuring it aligns with both the British and International Baccalaureate standards.
  • Inquiry-Based Learning: Create a learning atmosphere that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving, utilizing practical resources such as rooftop greenhouses to connect scientific concepts with real-world applications.
  • Project-Based Learning (PBL): Facilitate interdisciplinary projects that merge the British curriculum with inquiry-based strategies, equipping students to address real-life challenges.
  • Individualized Support: Cultivate strong relationships with students, offering personalized guidance to enhance their academic and personal development.
  • Team Leadership: Motivate and collaborate with science mentors, ensuring a cohesive and high-performing team that provides exceptional science education.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Science expert with specialization in at least one area: Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.
  • Demonstrated experience in iGCSEs, delivering project-based and inquiry-led science education, preferably within the British or International Baccalaureate framework.
  • Enthusiasm for connecting classroom learning to practical applications, fostering a hands-on approach to science education.
  • Strong dedication to personalized learning experiences and nurturing an inclusive educational setting.
  • Robust academic qualifications in a related discipline; a Bachelor’s degree is required, while a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification with a minimum of five years of teaching experience.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Sensitivity to the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Proficiency in IT to enhance productivity and facilitate classroom learning.
