Responsible for: Arabic Teacher Role

Main purpose

The teacher will:

  • Fulfill the professional duties expected of a teacher, consistently aligning with the standards established by the UK and UAE Teachers’ Standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree is essential, along with a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed.).
  • At least 2 years of successful experience teaching Arabic within the British Curriculum is preferred.
  • Experience teaching in the UAE is advantageous.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Familiarity with the British National Curriculum.
  • Understanding of adaptive teaching and learning methodologies.
  • A solid grasp of child learning processes.
  • Capability to tailor teaching methods to accommodate students’ diverse needs.
  • Skill in fostering effective working relationships with students.
  • Awareness of policies and protocols regarding child safeguarding.
  • Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
  • Proficiency in ICT, particularly in leveraging technology to enhance learning.
  • Ethical and safe application of AI to support educational objectives.
  • Awareness of UAE policies and inspection standards (desirable).

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching

  • Create lesson plans that align with the school curriculum and national educational standards.
  • Deliver interactive and engaging lessons that address various learning styles and abilities.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that values respect, cultural awareness, and diversity.
  • Assess and monitor students' learning progress through various methods such as quizzes, exams, and projects.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance and conduct.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and activities.
  • Stay informed about the latest teaching strategies, technologies, and resources relevant to Arabic language instruction.
  • Engage in professional development activities, including workshops and training sessions.
  • Offer support and guidance to students requiring additional academic assistance.
  • Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events as needed.
  • Maintain thorough and current records of student attendance, grades, and assignments.
  • Adhere to school policies and procedures concerning academic integrity, student behavior, and safety.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and the broader school community.
  • Actively engage in school events and activities such as sports days and charity functions.
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of teaching strategies and adapt them as necessary to ensure student success.

Whole-school organisation, strategy and development

  • Contribute to the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of school policies, practices, and procedures to support the school's vision and values.
  • Positively influence the broader school community and ethos.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and student development to achieve coordinated results.
  • Provide cover in situations where another teacher is unavailable.
  • Lead assigned extracurricular activities, both during and outside school hours.

Health, safety and discipline

  • Promote student safety and well-being.
  • Maintain discipline and manage student behavior effectively to ensure a positive learning environment.
