Qatar International School is a British International private institution situated in Doha, the capital of the State of Qatar. The school adheres to the National Curriculum of England and Wales, catering to students aged 3 to 18 years. Our extensive history spans over four decades, dating back to 1977, making us one of the pioneering British schools in Qatar. Since our inception, we have undergone significant transformations, including relocating to our current site in 2001. Qatar International School continues to flourish, expanding its remarkable facilities, which feature science laboratories, ICT suites, a swimming pool, expansive playing fields, and spacious sports halls. From our modest beginnings over 40 years ago, QIS has evolved into one of the largest and most esteemed schools in the nation, currently enrolling over 2,100 students. In 2015, the school attained the highest rating from the Qatar National Schools Accreditation programme during an inspection by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Subsequently, in 2020, QIS earned two distinguished international accreditations. First, it was recognized as ‘outstanding’ across every category in the UK government's British School Overseas (BSO) inspection framework, becoming only the third school globally to achieve this at the time. Additionally, QIS was the first institution in the world to receive Council for International Schools (CIS) accreditation through a new fast-track process aimed at exceptional schools. The final CIS evaluation included over 100 individual commendations, solidifying our status as one of the most respected educational institutions in the region. Our most recent British School Overseas inspection in 2023 also rated us as “outstanding” in every category. QIS stands out as the sole school in the Middle East authorized to deliver OLEVI training courses directly from the UK, including The Outstanding Teacher’s Programme. Students are instructed across Key Stages from KS1 to KS5, with examinations conducted in GCSE, IGCSE, and A Levels via UK examination boards. A significant number of QIS graduates proceed to higher education at leading universities worldwide, particularly in the UK, USA, Canada, UAE, and Qatar. Our student population is genuinely international, encompassing over 70 different nationalities within the current cohort. Since 2015, these students have achieved remarkable, record-breaking outcomes, including at least seven ‘Best in World’ results at IGCSE and A Level.
