Experience and knowledge

• Experience working with babies aged 0–2
• Experience supporting children’s learning, development and care routines
• Experience working with parents and families
• Basic understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
• Understanding of attachment, responsive care and safeguarding

Skills and abilities

• Ability to support high-quality care and learning
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with babies and families
• Ability to follow guidance and contribute to planning and assessment
• Ability to help maintain a safe, engaging and well-organised environment

Desirable experience and skills

• Experience working specifically with babies aged 0–2
• Experience as a key person
• Awareness of approaches to supporting early communication and language
• Experience working with children with additional needs
• Confidence contributing to observations and identifying next steps
• Ability to support early communication and language development
• Confidence working with parents and sharing information about children’s development
