About the Role

Aldenham Prep School Riyadh is seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic Teacher of Science to deliver exceptional education across Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9).

The ideal applicant should be a knowledgeable general science teacher, skilled in instructing Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with a passion for igniting curiosity, promoting scientific reasoning, and cultivating a love for learning in all students.

This position offers a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference at a growing British international school and to significantly contribute to the enhancement of our KS3 curriculum, facilitating smooth transitions into KS4.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Design and deliver engaging, tailored lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for KS3
  • Develop a strong grasp of scientific concepts, inquiry skills, and hands-on experiments
  • Utilize various teaching strategies to cater to all learners, including EAL students
  • Maintain high expectations for student performance, behavior, and participation

Curriculum & Assessment

  • Deliver the British curriculum in line with National Curriculum standards
  • Prepare students effectively for their progression into GCSE sciences
  • Create and implement both formative and summative assessments
  • Track, monitor, and report on student progress in accordance with school policies

Practical Science & Safety

  • Plan and facilitate safe and engaging practical science sessions
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the laboratory
  • Promote scientific inquiry through experiential learning opportunities

Pastoral & Wider School Contribution

  • Act as a Form Tutor (if required), supporting students’ academic and personal development
  • Participate in the wider school community through clubs, trips, and enrichment programs
  • Build positive relationships with parents and the school community

Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Science department and throughout the school
  • Engage in departmental planning and curriculum development
  • Take part in ongoing professional development and performance review processes

Person Specification

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science-related field
  • Valid teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience teaching KS3 Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
  • Strong understanding of all three scientific disciplines
  • Ability to deliver engaging and impactful lessons to a diverse range of students
  • Dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable

  • Experience in a British international school environment
  • Familiarity with preparing students for GCSE sciences
  • Willingness to contribute to extracurricular STEM activities (e.g., robotics, science clubs)
