Position Overview:
We are in search of a committed and enthusiastic Physical Education Teacher who can motivate and engage students from Kindergarten to Grade 9 in the realms of physical fitness, wellness, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will be adept at instilling a passion for physical activity and health through teaching methods that are culturally responsive and inclusive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons that promote physical activity, teamwork, and motor skills development.
- Integrate Indigenous cultural values and teachings into the physical education curriculum, emphasizing respect for Dakota Language and Culture.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages student involvement and honors diversity.
- Evaluate and track student progress, offering constructive feedback to both students and their families.
- Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, staff, and community members to enhance student well-being and foster an active school environment.
- Engage in school events, professional development opportunities, and community initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Education with a minor in Physical Education/Kinesiology is preferred.
- Valid teaching certification or the ability to obtain certification in Saskatchewan.
- Experience with Indigenous communities or a strong desire to learn about and incorporate Indigenous cultures into teaching practices.
- A solid understanding of and commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Capability to tailor lessons to accommodate a diverse range of ages and physical abilities.
