Salary: £23,638.00 per annum (£13.25 per hour) (not pro rata)
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

About the Role
New Barn School, a member of Options Autism, is in search of devoted Learning Mentors to assist our students with autism and complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
As a Learning Mentor, you will be central to each student’s educational journey—facilitating their access to learning, fostering independence, and nurturing the confidence necessary for both academic and emotional success. You will offer consistent, individualized support in a structured and supportive setting where every accomplishment is recognized.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist autistic students with complex SEND in accessing learning and developing self-assurance.
- Serve as a positive role model, establishing trusting and supportive relationships.
- Prepare educational resources and support classroom and practical activities.
- Provide personalized, hands-on assistance tailored to each student’s learning needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and the multidisciplinary team to implement a therapeutic, student-centered approach.
- Aid in communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and behavior management.
- Foster engagement in learning while promoting overall wellbeing and personal growth.
- Keep precise records of student progress and relay feedback to teaching staff.
About You
You will possess:
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Experience in a SEND environment, ideally with autistic students.
- A sincere enthusiasm for supporting children and young people.
- Resilience, empathy, and a proactive, positive attitude.
- A strong dedication to maintaining high professional standards and pursuing continuous improvement.
Experience working with autistic students or in a SEND context is highly desirable.
