TEACHER OF MANDARIN & STEM
Commencing - September 2026
Salary - MPS1 (£32,916) to UPS3 (£51,048)
Are you passionate about inspiring young people through language and analytical thinking? Do you believe that Mandarin and STEM subjects both play a vital role in preparing students for a global, technology-driven future?
The Role
Watling Academy has an exciting opportunity for a full-time teacher to deliver Mandarin alongside a STEM subject.
This post would suit either:
- A qualified Mandarin Teacher with the ability and experience to teach a STEM subject; or
- A qualified STEM subject Teacher who speaks fluent Mandarin and is passionate about delivering Mandarin language learning.
The successful candidate will join a thriving and supportive team, contributing to both curriculum areas and helping students develop linguistic, cultural and problem‑solving skills.
As a Teacher of Mandarin and STEM, you will deliver high-quality Mandarin teaching that develops students’ language skills through engaging, real-life contexts while promoting an appreciation of Mandarin-speaking cultures and global perspectives. Alongside this, you will teach a STEM subject across KS3 and/or KS4 (with the potential for KS5), encouraging logical thinking and real-world application of knowledge. You will contribute to the wider MFL curriculum, including provision for students following the Mandarin Excellence Programme pathway, and work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to support students’ academic progress and personal development with high expectations and enthusiasm.
