Who we are

Our students hail from diverse backgrounds, each with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many also face additional Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism, ADHD, and communication challenges.

The nature of our work is both varied and demanding. As a trauma and attachment-informed organization, we provide all staff with comprehensive therapeutic training and ongoing support.

We employ a closely triangulated approach, centering the child in decision-making to ensure that education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authority teams, and, most importantly, our students, collaborate effectively to achieve outstanding results for everyone involved.

The Role

Teaching Assistants in our school understand that each day presents unique challenges and that each child is different. Our students need dedicated adults capable of supporting them through complex and difficult behaviors.

Teaching Assistants will recognize that our children require significant attention, appropriate communication, consistency, and flexibility in equal measure, all while maintaining a non-judgmental stance. They must be resilient, determined, and focused on solutions to meet our pupils' needs, prepared to adapt their approach as circumstances change.

Our Teaching Assistants will:

- Assist in teaching and learning
- Work with students individually or in small groups
- Manage classroom resources
- Accompany students on educational excursions
- Share lunchtime with children facing social challenges
- Possess a solid foundational understanding of English and Maths
- Ensure children's safety during heightened behaviors through effective behavior management and communication
- Engage students in games that promote social skills or enhance learning
- Create inspiring displays that support teaching and foster an exceptional learning atmosphere
- Celebrate student achievements
- Participate in therapeutic training sessions or reflect on challenging experiences

Our Teaching Assistants are crucial to our team. We value their contributions to decision-making processes that shape our school, drive positive outcomes for children, and advocate for every student. Their insights are welcome in developing both the academic curriculum and the extra-curricular opportunities, allowing them to infuse their interests and passions into our offerings.
