Required Qualifications

Education & Certification

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
• A valid teaching certificate recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated candidates without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Candidates do not need to meet every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-centered education are highly valued.

Language and Cultural Assets

• Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
• Experience with educational practices based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
• Background in bilingual or ESL teaching settings
• Experience teaching in cross-cultural or northern Canadian environments

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment

• Understanding of differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
• Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
• Knowledge of current assessment strategies to enhance student learning
• Experience in fostering a positive learning atmosphere with effective classroom management techniques (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

• Proven ability to cultivate respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members
