About This Role

Uphold and promote the principles and standards of excellence outlined in the GEMS Core Values.

Deliver the designated curriculum while demonstrating thorough and current knowledge of both the curriculum and subject matter.

Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students, utilizing suitable materials and classroom arrangements to accommodate diverse learning preferences.

Provide written documentation of lesson planning and preparation upon request. Maintain organized records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more.

Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct, particularly regarding Child Protection, at all times.

Teach assigned students based on their individual needs, employing effective teaching strategies tailored to various abilities, including late entrants, ESL learners, those with lower academic performance, and gifted students.

Assign and evaluate coursework, assess, document, and report on the academic growth, progress, and achievement of students, using these assessments to align the curriculum with individual student needs.

Exhibit proficiency in utilizing technology and media within the classroom setting.

Foster the overall development and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational and pastoral issues.

Engage with external stakeholders as necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.

Participate in appraisal, Performance Management processes, and Professional Development (PD), taking an active role in your own professional growth.

Collaborate with colleagues in the creation and enhancement of teaching materials, resources, study programs, and pastoral initiatives.

Engage in, and lead when suitable, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within the school for a minimum of 2 hours. Cultivate positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the exchange of ideas, resources, and experiences.

Monitor and oversee appropriate student conduct, planning and implementing strategies to promote self-discipline and manage any disruptive behavior.

Model and foster cultural awareness and understanding while nurturing a passion for learning.

Assist in organizing and planning school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and prize days.

Communicate regularly with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values while keeping them informed on their children's progress, all while maintaining confidentiality regarding student information.

Demonstrate initiative and commitment beyond the standard workday when tasks require additional effort.

Attend staff meetings and participate on committees as needed.

Carry out additional duties as assigned by direct and indirect reporting line managers or supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
