About This Role

Key Responsibilities

1) Teaching & Learning
- Conduct engaging and well-structured Computer Science lessons for students ranging from KS2 to KS5 (IGCSE and A Level).
- Cover key subjects including programming, algorithms, computational thinking, databases, networks, and the latest in technology.
- Promote digital literacy, creative coding, and responsible online behavior within the school community.
- Participate in interdisciplinary STEM projects that connect with Mathematics, Sciences, Robotics, Design Technology, or Humanities as appropriate.
- Collaborate with primary staff to develop a computing curriculum that eases the transition from KS2 to KS3 for younger students.
- Provide specialized academic support through clinics, revision workshops, and coursework assistance for examination groups and those needing additional help.
- Uphold a safe and respectful learning environment that reflects RGSPP’s core values and behavioral expectations.

2) Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting
- Develop and refine Schemes of Work, working alongside the Head of Department to implement best practices in Computer Science instruction.
- Assist in creating and evaluating assessments that track student progress and inform tailored support.
- Prepare students for public examinations (IGCSE/A Level or equivalent), which might include coursework or practical programming components.
- Stay updated on technological advancements, software developments, coding languages, and global digital trends.
- Provide precise information for options booklets, the school website, and marketing materials.

3) Pastoral Care & Student Well-being
- Serve as a Personal Tutor, building strong relationships with students and their families.
- Create a secure and respectful learning environment that aligns with RGSPP’s values and behavioral culture.
- Tailor instruction effectively for students with EAL, SEND, and those who are high-achieving.
- Offer support to students needing extra academic assistance through clinics, catch-up sessions, or workshops.

4) Co-Curricular & Enrichment
- Lead or assist in technology-centered clubs, including coding, robotics, esports, digital media, cybersecurity, or app development.
- Contribute to RGSPP's comprehensive educational approach by actively engaging in Co-Curricular Activities, the House System, and leadership programs.
- Motivate student participation in competitions such as Bebras, Olympiads, and robotics contests.
- Organize guest lectures, STEM/Tech days, problem-solving workshops, and innovation challenges.
- Build partnerships with tech companies, universities, or NGOs to enhance educational experiences.

5) Operational Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, behavior, academic performance, and achievements.
- Engage in departmental planning, resource development, and data analysis.
- Effectively utilize school digital platforms (e.g., MIS, reporting tools, online learning systems).
- Work with operations and procurement teams to acquire necessary hardware, software, robotics kits, or licenses.
- Support the organization of whole-school events, responsibilities, assemblies, and emergency protocols.

6) Marketing, Admissions & Community Engagement
- Assist with open days, taster sessions, and outreach initiatives that highlight Computer Science at RGSPP.
- Involve parents through workshops, information sessions, or digital safety briefings.
- Help create promotional materials, newsletters, and social media content that showcase student achievements.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Hold a degree in Computer Science, Computing, IT, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Have a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or equivalent).
- Experience teaching Computer Science at KS3 is essential, with KS4 experience preferred; KS5 or KS2 experience is a bonus but not mandatory.
- Early-career teachers (including NQTs/ECTs) are encouraged to apply.

Desirable Qualities
- Experience teaching IGCSE/A Level or another international curriculum.
- Interest or experience in robotics, AI, game design, cybersecurity, or digital creativity.
- Background in leading coding clubs, robotics teams, hackathons, or tech competitions.
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms and educational technologies.
- Commitment to RGSPP values and ethos.

All Teachers at RGSPP
- Teach (or are available for Private Study supervision or cover) a designated timetable each week.
- Accept responsibilities within their department as reasonably required, including assisting with the preparation and grading of internal examinations, entrance assessments, and scholarship evaluations, as well as recording results.
- Develop and share resources and best practices, contributing to departmental meetings and the online departmental handbook.
- Set and assess work in accordance with School and department policies; provide constructive feedback; maintain accurate records of student attainment and progress; write assessments and reports as needed.
- Attend meetings (staff meetings, INSET, Parents’ Briefings) and engage with parents during scheduled school events and at other appropriate times.
