About This Role

As part of our founding team, you will be instrumental in developing a vibrant and inclusive community where the learning of each individual is central to our daily activities. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain an inviting, organized, and clean library environment, including bulletin boards and displays, that reflects the school's values as well as current, relevant curricular topics.
- Foster an understanding of the distinction between research and inquiry.
- Select, order, process, and promote new materials.
- Act as a resource for literacy support and the integration of technology into the curriculum.
- Facilitate access to information by acquiring and organizing a variety of materials.
- Engage the school community in collection development through interactive polls and web-based suggestion forms.
- Create space for media production, such as podcasting, video production, and storytelling.
- Implement a consistent classroom management strategy that is appropriate for the developmental level of the students.
- Provide a flexible schedule that allows for additional time to be allocated to classes as needed.
- Address the diverse needs of students, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).
- Demonstrate effective methodologies in practice.
- Utilize best practices for embedding technology into all aspects of students' learning.
- Exhibit and model an international mindset and appreciation for the UAE.
- Provide orientation and instruction on the use and care of print and non-print resources and equipment in the library.
- Teach students evolving strategies for gathering and assessing information, including the use of tags, hashtags, feeds, real-time searches, and traditional database methods.
- Ensure students and teachers have access to databases, portals, websites, blogs, videos, and other media.
- Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and be open to teaching virtually across the school when necessary.
- Encourage a love of reading and appreciation for literature, sharing books and promoting social networking tools like Shelfari, Good Reads, or LibraryThing.
- Explore the use of teleconferencing tools like Teams or Zoom to connect the library with authors, experts, book discussions, and debates.
- Adhere to the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy at all times, ensuring any concerns are reported immediately to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead(s).

Internal and External Interactions:
- Supervise staff working within the library.
- Oversee the library's management, including cataloging teaching resources.
- Collaborate regularly and effectively with other key personnel.
- Develop and maintain a Primary School Library webpage on the school’s site.
- Organize ongoing after-hour activities for the school community, such as parent-child reading nights.
- Join a library network (e.g., Taaleem job aligns, across Dubai, etc.).
- Provide verbal and written feedback to the Class Teacher to support report writing, assessments, and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Accompany students on school trips as appropriate and ensure compliance with school policies regarding trip documentation.
- Supervise students during breaks, including before and after school when necessary.
- Communicate professionally with parents to enhance the school's image and reputation.
- Perform any other similar tasks as directed by the Class Teacher, demonstrating flexibility to assist in various classes or areas of the school as required.

Requirements:

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject.

Experience:
- Experience working with children or in a school environment, ideally in a similar position.

Competencies:
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Enthusiasm and a talent for working with students.
- A strong team player, capable of collaborating effectively within a team.
