About This Role

Curriculum Support Assistant (CSA) for the Faculty of Science – 37 hours per week term time 193 days (Grade LG5)

 

To work under the direction and guidance of the SENDCo and Head of Faculty to directly support students with additional needs to access and progress across the relevant curriculum areas, particularly in the area of science.  You will be an enthusiastic and committed individual who is skilled in supporting young people with a range of additional needs.

 

You will join an enthusiastic, multi-disciplinary team who provide high quality and effective support for pupils with a range of additional educational needs in a department with strong leadership. Our support ranges from pupils with language and communication difficulties, including pupils on the autistic spectrum, to pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties, learning difficulties or physical difficulties.  You will have a keen interest in working with pupils with additional needs to achieve positive outcomes in this inclusive environment.  Knowledge and understanding of behaviour management and how to use scaffolding and visual strategies in class to support pupils is essential.

 

We are committed to supporting the right candidate in their career progression towards a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or with possible routes into teaching over time.

 

You will provide subject specific interventions to small groups and on a 1:1 basis. In addition, you will become the key worker for a number of pupils with additional needs. You will support them to access their academic curriculum and the wider school community. This will include developing effective working relationships with parents/carers and additional agencies, promoting a multi-agency approach to pupil support.
