Middle School Generalist with possibility of IGCSE and A-level teaching
About This Role
Shape a Dynamic Future: Generalist Secondary Educator
British West Indies Collegiate (BWIC) is in search of a multifaceted, intellectually curious, and motivating educator to join our team. As the leading independent institution in the Turks and Caicos Islands, we are embarking on an exciting growth journey and seek a "polymath" teacher who excels in a diverse, international high school setting.
At BWIC, our focus is on the "whole student." We are eager to find a practitioner capable of navigating various disciplines, promoting both academic excellence and the personal development that characterizes a true Spartan.
The Role
• Interdisciplinary Excellence: Provide top-notch instruction across diverse subjects. We particularly seek strengths in Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish), English, Humanities, and Science.
• Curriculum Flexibility: Instruct students in Key Stage 3 and the Cambridge (CAIE) IGCSE syllabus, demonstrating the ability to tailor your teaching methods to various subject standards.
• A-Level Expansion: As we enhance our Sixth Form offerings, candidates who can deliver A-Level content in specialized areas will be highly regarded.
• Academic Mentorship: Support students through the challenges of a British-style curriculum, ensuring they cultivate the critical thinking abilities necessary for success at global universities.
• Community Engagement: Foster the “extended family” atmosphere of BWIC by participating in school-wide events, house competitions, and contributing to the overall development of our 195 students.
The Ideal Candidate
• Qualified Generalist: Holds a valid teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) along with a robust degree in a core academic area.
• The "All-Rounder": An educator who possesses the intellectual agility to teach across various departments (for example, leading a Spanish seminar in the morning followed by a General Science lab in the afternoon).
• Visionary Educator: Someone excited about the opportunity of a growing high school and eager to help broaden our A-Level subject offerings.
• Cultural Adaptability: While experience in an international or British-style school environment is preferred, we prioritize passion, resilience, and professional flexibility.
Why Join BWIC?
• A Dynamic Environment: Become part of a school that appreciates your diverse skill set and allows you the freedom to teach across your interests.
• Modern Facilities: Take advantage of dedicated IT labs, science facilities, and a specialized Sixth Form Centre tailored for advanced study.
• Small Class Sizes: Provide personalized mentorship to a motivated and diverse student body.
• A Lifestyle Unmatched: Experience life and work on "Provo," where your professional versatility is complemented by stunning beaches and a supportive international faculty community.
