About This Role

Aldar Education is on the lookout for an exceptional Teacher of Science (Secondary School) to join Muna British Academy in Abu Dhabi, starting in the 2026–2027 academic year.

In August 2025, Muna British Academy transitioned to a cutting-edge campus located in the esteemed Saadiyat Lagoons community. This new facility has allowed us to broaden our educational offerings, currently serving students from FS1 to Year 8, with intentions to expand to Year 13 soon, all within an inspiring environment that supports our mission to provide exceptional education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching and Learning

• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the science curriculum, providing high-quality instruction across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, including GCSE, A Level, and BTEC pathways as appropriate.

• Instruct across the science subjects of biology, chemistry, and physics at Key Stage 3, with the capability to specialize in a specific subject area at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 when needed.

• Deliver dynamic and well-organized lessons that enhance students’ scientific knowledge, investigative abilities, critical thinking, and comprehension of real-world scientific applications.

• Plan and implement schemes of work that adhere to the UK National Curriculum at KS3 and meet the requirements of examination boards at KS4 and KS5.

• Effectively prepare students for external qualifications such as (I)GCSE, A Level, and BTEC science qualifications.

• Encourage scientific inquiry through hands-on investigations, experimentation, observation, and data analysis.

• Provide high-quality guidance and feedback during coursework and practical assessments to ensure students meet examination criteria.

• Design lessons and learning sequences that cater to the needs of all learners, ensuring appropriate challenge and support across varying ability levels.

• Leverage assessment to monitor student progress, inform planning, and assist students in reaching their potential.

• Foster students’ independence, resilience, and problem-solving skills through hands-on and investigative learning experiences.

• Ensure that laboratories and science classrooms are well-organized and that resources and displays promote a stimulating and safe educational atmosphere.

• Uphold high standards of laboratory safety, ensuring students adhere to safe practices during practical investigations and when using scientific equipment.

• Employ a variety of teaching strategies, including digital technology and blended learning techniques, to enhance student engagement and progress.

• Address the needs of all learners, including POD (SEN), EAL, and G&T students, through effective differentiation and inclusive teaching methods.

• Contribute to curriculum development within the science department, ensuring the curriculum remains engaging, rigorous, and aligned with advancements in science education and industry.

Assessment, Progress, and Achievement

• Monitor and evaluate student progress using assessment data to inform instructional practices and identify students who need additional support or challenge.

• Provide clear and constructive feedback to help students improve their scientific knowledge, investigative skills, and examination performance.

• Prepare students effectively for internal and external assessments through structured guidance, revision techniques, and exam preparation.

• Participate in departmental moderation and standardization processes to ensure accurate and consistent assessment practices.

• Assist students in developing practical, analytical, and evaluative skills essential for GCSE, A Level, and BTEC science qualifications.

Behaviour Management and Student Wellbeing

• Adhere to the school’s behaviour policy and uphold high expectations for student conduct and engagement.

• Manage classrooms effectively using positive behaviour strategies that foster a focused and productive learning environment.

• Establish positive relationships with students, promoting respect, responsibility, and independence.

• Serve as a positive role model and uphold the values and ethos of the school.

• Contribute to the pastoral development of students and the overall wellbeing and safeguarding of all learners.

Professional Responsibilities and Wider Contribution

• Engage in the broader life of the school through enrichment activities, clubs, and competitions that extend students’ learning beyond the classroom.

• Support whole-school initiatives and cross-curricular opportunities that encourage creativity, sustainability, innovation, and enterprise.

• Participate in departmental planning, professional development, and collaborative efforts with colleagues.

• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting and communication processes with parents.

• Execute duties and responsibilities as directed in accordance with the school’s policies and expectations.

• Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, child protection, and professional conduct at all times.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a similar role.

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills:

• Essential experience working in an international school setting.

• Familiarity with students for whom English is not their first language (EAL).
