About This Role
The Position
The Head of Department will report directly to the Executive Principal through Academic Management.
The successful candidate will oversee a team of dedicated subject specialists, which is anticipated to expand significantly as student enrollment grows. This individual will be charged with advancing the subject across all levels within the School. It is crucial for the candidate to have strong organizational abilities and to be an enthusiastic, dynamic, and innovative educator who leads by example. A commitment to diverse teaching methodologies and alignment with the School's goals and objectives is essential.
Key duties and responsibilities encompass:
• Academic management
• Instruction
• Tutoring and Pastoral Care
• A high-quality degree focused primarily on the relevant subject area;
• A formal teaching qualification may be beneficial;
• An eagerness for ongoing training and professional development;
Skills and Experience:
• Proficiency in teaching the subject confidently to all age groups from 11-18 (Chinese Grades 6 to 12), staying current with developments in the field;
• A readiness to cater to the needs of students for whom English is not the first language is crucial;
• Competence in ICT and strong technical skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and procedures, especially with the SchoolPal system, which serves as our Virtual Learning Environment;
• Strong administrative capabilities;
• A willingness to engage in the School's extracurricular activities is highly desirable;
• A commitment to supporting the Admissions and Marketing teams is essential;
• Relevant experience in teaching, examining, or the commercial sector will be considered.
