Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the school’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Develop and deliver engaging programs of learning in collaboration with the Learning Area Leader, Learning Facilitators and other teachers.
- Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment which supports the needs of individual learners and encourages their personal growth in the subject.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
- Stay current with trends and best practices within education, showing a willingness to learn.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Familiarity with the social studies/geography/history curriculum.
- Understanding of the Review of Achievement Standards and Te Mātaiaho.
- A teaching qualification with a specialisation in Geography and History.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a class in a relational way.
- A passion for mentoring and guiding students.
- Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities related to the social studies learning area and the wider school priorities.
