Class Teacher - Maternity Cover

(Year 5 for this academic year)

FTE 60% (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday)

This role is offered as part of a job‑share arrangement, working 2.5 days per week alongside an existing postholder

Salary: Teachers Main Scale 1- 6

(£34,398 - £46,839 FTE per annum - £20,638.80 - £28,103.40 actual salary per annum at 60% FTE)

Start Date: 7th December 2026

Fixed until 31st August 2027

We are looking to appoint a teacher to join our school, on a part time basis, for 2.5 days a week.

Bonnygate Primary School is a 2-form entry school with a nursery in South Ockendon and is a vibrant and diverse school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve endless possibilities. We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic, and committed teacher to join our friendly and diverse team. We are keen to appoint someone with a proven track record as an effective practitioner, or an ECT that has achieved highly whilst training.

This position will involve:

  • Supporting pupils, to ensure they are engaged in learning activities
  • Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom
  • Acting as a role model, setting high expectations of conduct and promoting positive pupil behaviour, to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures about health & safety, welfare and wellbeing and safeguarding
  • Establishing positive relationships with the pupils, parents and other staff in the school

The successful candidate will be:

  • Committed to raising outcomes of all students
  • A great communicator with excellent organisational skills and a helpful and positive attitude
  • Dedicated to good classroom management, and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Caring towards the welfare and achievement of every child
  • Innovative and have a passion for improvement
  • Able to multi-task and have excellent written skills
  • Able to follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise students’ welfare
