About This Role

Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Ours is vibrant, diverse and inclusive school with over 60 languages spoken across our community. The foundation of our vision and purpose is to offer excellence to all our young people, based on four clear values which underpin all our work – pride, ambition, respect and togetherness. Our recipe for success is based on high quality teaching and academic rigour, blended with the highest expectations, support and guidance. This creates the safe and happy environment which young people need to thrive and flourish.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, your role will be to contribute to the daily provision of high-quality pastoral care. This includes monitoring standards and patterns of behaviour and discipline, attendance, and punctuality. You will need to have a good understanding of the school’s behaviour policy and be able to support staff in implementing this.

You will

  • Supervise and monitor the movement of students around the site during lesson times returning students who are absent without permission to classrooms

  • Supervise students across the site during lunch time

  • Support the operation and monitoring of the Internal Exclusion and Restorative rooms as appropriate

  • Support the effective operation of the on-call system to remove students from lessons as necessary

  • Under supervision provide mentoring and tailored literacy and numeracy catch-up interventions which are evidenced based and therapeutic to students on a 1:1 and small group basis

You should have level 2 qualifications or equivalent in English and Maths together with experience of working with children and young people. You should also have a commitment to the school’s Equal Opportunities Policy. The ability to be able to lead 1:1 or group intervention sessions on behaviour would be an advantage. The ability to speak an additional language would be desirable.

Hours: 35 hours per week, term time only plus 1 week (39 weeks per year).
