About This Role
* Uphold and promote the principles and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
* Implement the designated curriculum while demonstrating comprehensive and current knowledge of subject matter and curriculum guidelines.
* Design and deliver engaging lessons that inspire students, employing suitable resources and classroom settings to accommodate various learning styles.
* Provide written documentation of planning and preparation upon request. Maintain detailed records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching materials, assessment strategies, and more.
* Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently.
* Instruct students based on their individual requirements, utilizing effective teaching methods tailored to diverse learning needs such as late entrants, ESL learners, students with lower academic performance, and those who are gifted and talented.
* Assign and evaluate student work, documenting and reporting on their academic growth, progress, and achievement while using assessments to tailor the curriculum to each student's needs.
* Demonstrate proficiency in incorporating media and technology within classroom instruction.
* Foster the overall development and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational issues.
* Engage with external stakeholders as needed, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.
* Take part in performance evaluations and appraisals, alongside ongoing professional development (CPD).
* Collaborate with colleagues in the creation and enhancement of teaching materials, resources, curriculums, and pastoral support systems.
* Get involved in, and lead where suitable, the school's co-curricular and extracurricular initiatives, fostering positive working relationships through leadership and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.
* Oversee and encourage appropriate student behavior, developing and implementing strategies for promoting self-discipline and managing disruptive actions.
* Exemplify and promote cultural awareness and appreciation while nurturing a passion for learning.
* Assist in organizing and planning school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies.
* Maintain regular communication with parents, advocating for the GEMS philosophy and core values, while keeping them informed about their children's progress, all while respecting student confidentiality.
* Demonstrate initiative and dedication beyond standard working hours when tasks necessitate extra commitment.
