About This Role
GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is on the lookout for an exceptional Director of Sport, set to join us in August 2026.
In this role, the Director of Sport will offer strategic leadership for our sporting initiatives, crafting a high-performance program that fosters excellence, participation, and well-being. The focus will be on establishing pathways for elite athletes, managing both competitive and recreational sports, and elevating the school's status as a premier sporting institution on both a local and international scale.
•
Spearhead the creation and execution of a comprehensive sport strategy for the entire school.
•
Cultivate a culture of excellence, participation, and well-being across all age groups.
•
Establish pathways for elite athletes in Tennis, Swimming, and Football.
•
Administer sports scholarships, including oversight of recruitment and performance assessment.
•
Supervise all competitive teams, fixtures, and competitions from Year 3 to Year 13.
•
Ensure adherence to DASSA, DSG, and BSME regulations.
•
Provide a diverse and inclusive recreational sports and extracurricular activities program.
•
Coordinate national and international sports tours and events.
•
Forge and maintain partnerships with external academies and service providers.
•
Manage sports facilities, resources, budgets, and equipment effectively.
•
Monitor participation and performance metrics to enhance athlete development.
•
Create opportunities for student leadership within the sports domain.
•
Guide and support the PE and coaching staff team.
Skills
•
Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational or high-performance sports setting.
•
Deep understanding of athlete development pathways and sports program design.
•
Proven ability to manage extensive sports programs and cultivate external partnerships.
•
Outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
•
Capacity to inspire both participation and high-level performance.
•
Relevant degree in Sport Science, Physical Education, or a similar area.
•
Coaching qualifications and additional leadership training are preferred.
