About This Role

GEMS Royal Dubai School is a lively, premium institution offering a British curriculum to students from FS1 to Year 8. In September 2026, the school will expand to include Year 9, with a strategic plan in place to grow through to Year 13. With a diverse student body of over 850 individuals from more than 48 nationalities, the school fosters a strong family atmosphere alongside high academic standards.

As we continue to develop, a brand-new, purpose-built secondary campus will open in September 2026. This cutting-edge facility will further enrich the high-quality learning environment and opportunities available for our students.

Following the promotion of the current postholder, we are on the lookout for a dynamic and passionate Assistant Headteacher – Learning and Teaching to become part of our leadership team starting September 2026. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, driven to elevate standards, and dedicated to ensuring excellence for every learner. This role presents an exciting opportunity to significantly impact a high-achieving school and support the ongoing advancement of the #RoyalStandard.

Job purpose

To lead initiatives in learning, teaching, and professional development across all school phases, enhancing the strong practices and established coaching culture already in place. The position entails a teaching commitment as either a subject or primary specialist, exemplifying high-quality teaching that drives exceptional student outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Exemplifying outstanding classroom practice and assisting colleagues in providing consistently high-quality teaching across both Primary and Secondary.
• Overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of teaching and learning, ensuring uniformity and promptly addressing areas needing improvement.
• Managing the coaching program and professional development systems, ensuring their effectiveness throughout the school.
• Playing a vital role in self-evaluation and school improvement planning by utilizing a variety of evidence to guide decisions.
• Fostering a culture of collaboration, professional dialogue, and research-driven professional development.
• Assisting in the design and assessment of effective performance management systems for all staff members.
• Leading strategic teaching initiatives throughout the school.
• Exhibiting a reflective, solution-oriented leadership style with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Cultivating strong relationships with colleagues, students, and parents through excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Contributing to the broader school environment through events, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.
• Upholding the highest standards in safeguarding and student welfare.
• Continuing personal professional development as a senior leader.
• Performing other reasonable duties as assigned by the school leadership.

The successful candidate will be a qualified UK teacher (BEd, PGCE, or PGDE) with a solid track record of impacting teaching and learning. They will possess strong leadership qualities, a commitment to high standards, and the capability to inspire both staff and students.

Compensation
