Role Purpose
Teaching at SPGSI offers a particularly enriching and fulfilling experience, as we strive to foster an engaging and dynamic learning atmosphere. Teaching and Learning Responsibilities
- Design and prepare lessons in line with school policies.
- Instruct assigned students and groups/sets.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues on a regular basis.
- Set, assess, and moderate students' work as needed.
- Encourage students' academic progress and development, adapting to diverse learning abilities.
- Track and evaluate student progress.
- Write subject reports.
- Prepare students for public examinations in accordance with specifications.
- Participate in departmental provision during lunch and after school, including one evening session weekly.
- Organize and lead components of the extracurricular program, including trips, clubs, and guest speakers.
Academic Progress and Provision
- Foster an environment that promotes intellectual curiosity and ambition.
- Assess student performance and set targets based on data analysis.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and staff to support individual and group student progress.
- Oversee homework assignments and patterns to identify areas needing improvement and initiate appropriate actions.
- Work with the Deputy Head Academic to ensure all external examination specifications are relevant and suitable.
- Contribute to the target-setting process aimed at enhancing student achievement across the Key Stage, providing feedback to the Deputy Head Academic and Head of Senior School.
- Partner with the ALNCo to guarantee optimal support for all Senior School students.
Pastoral Care
- Cultivate strong relationships with all students to offer tailored support for their well-being.
- Oversee procedures for monitoring student welfare, collaborating with Heads of House.
- Assist students with safeguarding issues, ensuring they are reported to the DSL or safeguarding team.
- Promote the overall well-being of every student in the Senior School.
External Communication and Engagement
- Ensure parents have access to relevant, up-to-date information regarding their child's academic performance and well-being.
- Provide effective support and encourage parental involvement in school life.
- Collaborate with parents and governors.
Additional Responsibilities
- Contribute to full parental reports within the reporting cycle.
- Ensure equal opportunities for all in accordance with school policies and practices.
- Attend staff meetings as necessary.
- Support the development of the department and its ethos through meetings and leadership in specific areas.
- Foster a culture of appreciation.
