Responsible for: Music and Performing Arts Teacher Role

Main purpose

The teacher will:

Execute the professional responsibilities of a teacher while consistently upholding the standards established in the UK and UAE Teachers’ Standards.

Qualifications and Experience


Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).


A Bachelor’s degree is required along with a recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed.).


A minimum of 2 years of successful teaching experience in music and performing arts within the British Curriculum (desirable).


Experience in teaching within the UAE (desirable).

Skills and Knowledge


Knowledge of the British National Curriculum.


Understanding of adaptive teaching and learning strategies.


A strong grasp of child development and learning processes.


Ability to adjust teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.


Capacity to build effective working relationships with students.


Familiarity with child safeguarding guidelines and requirements.


Insight into effective behavior management strategies.


Proficient ICT skills, especially in using technology to enhance educational experiences.


Ethical and safe integration of AI in educational practices.


Awareness of UAE policies and inspection frameworks (desirable).

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching


Create and implement well-structured lessons for assigned classes, following the school’s pedagogical framework, plans, curriculum, and schemes of work.


Assess, monitor, document, and report on the learning needs, progress, and accomplishments of assigned students, using assessment effectively.


Adapt teaching to meet the strengths and needs of students.


Set high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge students.


Promote good progress and positive outcomes for students.


Exhibit strong subject knowledge and understanding of the curriculum.


Prepare students for external assessments.


Use culturally relevant resources that align with UAE laws and standards.

Whole-school organisation, strategy and development


Engage in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s policies, practices, and procedures to support the school’s vision and values.


Make a meaningful contribution to the overall life and ethos of the school.


Collaborate with others on curriculum and student development to achieve coordinated outcomes.


Provide coverage in instances when another teacher is unable to teach unexpectedly.


Lead assigned extracurricular activities before, during, and after school hours.

Management of staff and resources


Oversee and guide support staff assigned to them, and where applicable, other teachers.


Contribute to the recruitment and professional development of fellow teachers and support staff.

Safeguarding


Act in accordance with statutory safeguarding guidelines (e.g., Keeping Children Safe in Education) and the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies.


Work with the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) to promote student welfare, including sharing concerns when necessary.


Advocate for the safeguarding of all students consistently.

Other areas of responsibility


Ensure full compliance with all regulations, policies, and frameworks as mandated by the KHDA, BSO, and the UAE Ministry of Education.


Assist the leadership team in preparing for and conducting the KHDA inspection process, developing and following post-inspection action plans.


Contribute to the success of the UAE National Agenda.


Maintain professional and constructive communication with KHDA and Government Officials, representing the school at necessary forums and meetings as requested by the Principal.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
