About This Role

The School

Deira International School (DIS) is an award-winning institution recognized as Outstanding by both BSO and KHDA, situated in the scenic Festival City, Dubai. In 2023, DIS was honored with the Education Excellence Award for ‘School Team of the Year’ and has earned a Platinum Award for being the ‘Best Place to Work’, underscoring our dedication to staff wellbeing and a vibrant school community.

Catering to students aged 3–18, DIS operates as a not-for-profit school within the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation. Established in 2005, the school prides itself on delivering an exceptional, inclusive, and comprehensive education. Our latest inspection revealed the following commendable attributes:

  • Staff express significant pride in the school, affirming its strong leadership, safety, and inclusivity.
  • The teaching, learning, and assessment quality throughout the school is exemplary.
  • Educators maintain high expectations and consistently encourage students to excel.
  • Staff report feeling respected, valued, and treated equitably.
  • The curriculum is meticulously planned, logically sequenced, and effectively builds on prior knowledge.
  • There is a pronounced emphasis on academic progress and success.

DIS boasts a diverse student population representing over 90 nationalities, a cornerstone of our community ethos. Our outstanding facilities promote a well-rounded educational experience, providing ample opportunities in sports, performing arts, technology, leadership, creativity, and academic enrichment.

While our admissions process is non-selective, our students achieve remarkable examination results that rival those of top UK institutions, gaining admission to prestigious universities globally. We incorporate digital literacy throughout the curriculum to equip students for the challenges of an evolving world.

In the Early Years, our tailored, play-based continuous provision rigorously assesses students against the EYFS framework, laying solid foundations for future learning. Primary students benefit from a broad and enriching curriculum that includes various non-core subjects. In Secondary, learners complete IGCSEs by Year 11 before advancing to either the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) in Years 12 and 13.

DIS is governed by the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation (AFEF), a not-for-profit initiative by the Al-Futtaim family, which supports the vision of the Government of Dubai and KHDA in delivering future-ready education while maximizing positive social impact.
