Humanities Teacher

The British College of Gava, an IB World School located just 20 minutes from Barcelona, is looking to hire an outstanding full-time Humanities teacher to join our growing Secondary school starting in August 2025.

We seek an enthusiastic and well-organized individual with strong subject expertise, capable of motivating students to learn, and eager to contribute to the broader curriculum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare, deliver, and evaluate class or subject-specific activities that enhance student learning opportunities.
• Plan lessons according to set deadlines in the required formats and ensure that planning copies are accessible to relevant parties.
• Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and share insights with colleagues when appropriate.
• Create a stimulating and organized classroom environment where time and resources are utilized effectively.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback on students' work.
• Engage students in the target-setting process.
• Assign homework that reinforces and expands upon classroom learning, tailored to individual needs.
• Promote positive behavior among students and foster respectful attitudes towards peers, adults, property, and schoolwork.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and ensure the seamless transfer of updated records when students transition between classes or schools.
• Cultivate a strong partnership with parents by consulting with them about their children's progress, achievements, and attitudes.
• Collaborate within a whole school team approach.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential:

• UK-trained with qualified teacher status
• Bachelor's Degree
• Native-level English language proficiency
• Experience teaching in a secondary school (Humanities)

Desirable:

• Familiarity with IB programmes
• Master's or postgraduate qualification
• Right to work in the EU
