About This Role
The Position
At Denla British School, Mandarin is integrated into the curriculum from Reception (ages 4 to 5) through Year 13. Starting in Year 3, students are grouped by ability and taught by specialized Mandarin instructors. The Head of Mandarin will be responsible for leading, managing, and enhancing the Mandarin program across the entire school.
The Head of Mandarin is expected to fully embrace the core values of DBS and recognize the equal importance of academic study, pastoral care, and co-curricular activities. This position reports directly to the Head of Secondary.
Additionally, the Head of Mandarin will take on teaching responsibilities. The individual in this role will be accountable for ensuring the highest levels of student achievement in Mandarin, focusing on the students they instruct. This will involve effective monitoring, evaluation, and review of learning progress and teaching outcomes, as well as establishing targets for improvement.
Remuneration
The selected candidate will receive a competitive salary and benefits package that reflects their experience. This package will include:
- Competitive salary.
- On-site accommodation for the first year of the contract if recruited from overseas, with the option to move off-site and receive a housing allowance starting in the second year.
- Flights at the beginning and end of the contract for the candidate, their spouse, and children.
- Annual flight allowance for the candidate’s spouse and children.
- Medical insurance for the candidate, spouse, and children.
- Full tuition fee coverage for up to two children, or three for teaching couples (50% for any additional children).
- A gratuity at the end of the contract.
