General Science Teacher- KS3 and KS4
About This Role
Spark Scientific Discovery: Teacher of Science (General Science with Specialisms)
British West Indies Collegiate (BWIC) is seeking an enthusiastic, adaptable, and intellectually stimulating educator to join our Science Department. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of the premier independent school in the Turks and Caicos Islands, delivering a high-quality British international education to a diverse and passionate student body of 195.
At BWIC, we focus on the "whole student," and we are looking for an educator who can inspire a passion for inquiry across a variety of disciplines, from the foundational concepts of Key Stage 3 to the detailed studies of IGCSE and A-Level courses.
The Role
- Curriculum Excellence: Deliver engaging General Science lessons throughout Key Stage 3 and specialized instruction aligned with the Cambridge (CAIE) IGCSE and A-Level curricula.
- Disciplinary Versatility: We are in search of a teacher skilled in any core science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics). A background or strong interest in Marine Science would be particularly beneficial given our exceptional coastal environment and well-resourced department.
- Interdisciplinary Contribution: At BWIC, we value the "all-rounder" educator. The capability or willingness to provide teaching support in additional subjects—such as Humanities, Performing Arts, or Psychology—is regarded as a considerable advantage.
- Academic Leadership: Assist students in mastering the scientific method, engaging in hands-on laboratory experiences, and preparing for examinations, ensuring that every Spartan achieves their highest potential.
- Community Engagement: Participate in the "extended family" atmosphere of BWIC by taking part in school-wide events, house competitions, and supporting the personal development of our students.
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Scientist: Holds a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) and a strong Honors degree in a Science field.
- Versatile Academic: A teacher who excels in varied environments and shows the intellectual flexibility to teach across different subjects and age groups.
- Proven Track Record: Experience in delivering the British curriculum (preferably CAIE) with a history of helping students achieve outstanding examination results.
- Passionate Mentor: Recognizes that a "true Spartan" is cultivated through both academic excellence and character development.
Why Join BWIC?
- Well-Resourced Environment: Work in a department equipped with state-of-the-art science laboratories, dedicated IT resources, and the unique "living laboratory" of the Turks and Caicos marine ecosystem.
- Small Class Sizes: Benefit from small, focused groups that promote meaningful practical work, deep inquiry, and personalized academic support.
- A Lifestyle Unmatched: Live on "Provo," where professional excellence is complemented by beautiful beaches and a supportive international faculty community.
