About This Role

The Adviser – Student Support Services plays a vital role in promoting ESF’s Vision 2030 by fostering Belonging, Engagement, and Personalisation throughout all ESF kindergartens and primary schools.

As a member of the Student Support Services team, the Adviser enhances system capacity to create inclusive, neuro-affirming, and high-quality learning environments where every student can access, engage, and prosper. This position collaborates closely with school leaders and learning diversity teams to cultivate inclusive cultures, implement effective tiered support systems, and establish sustainable practices from Kindergarten through Year 6.

The Adviser strategically contributes to the ongoing development of ESF’s inclusion framework, ensuring that policies, moderation processes, funding models, and school practices are aligned.

Key Responsibilities


System Leadership and Strategy:


Assist in the strategic formulation, implementation, and evaluation of ESF policies and procedures related to inclusion, learning diversity, student support, and well-being from Kindergarten to Year 13.


Support the ongoing advancement of ESF’s inclusive education model in alignment with Vision 2030, the ESF Early Years Strategy, and Inclusion Evolution priorities.


Prepare reports, briefings, and strategic communications for the Head of Education – Student Support and ESF Senior Management as necessary.

School Partnership and Capacity Building:


Cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with ESF schools and kindergartens to enhance leadership capacity in inclusive practices and tiered support systems.


Guide and assist schools in the design and implementation of personalized learning methods, including Universal Design for Learning, differentiated curriculum pathways, and evidence-based interventions.


Offer consultative support to schools in planning for students requiring additional assistance, promoting inclusion within mainstream settings whenever feasible.


Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of ESF’s internal moderation processes for Levels of Adjustment, aiding schools in consistently, transparently, and professionally applying descriptors and guidance.


Help schools align their practices with ESF policy expectations and commitments to inclusive language.

Transition and Placement:


Enhance system-wide transition processes, especially from K2 to Year 1 and Year 6 to Year 7, ensuring clarity, equity, and alignment with the relevant school model.


Aid in the execution of Enhanced Transition Plans in collaboration with schools and families.


Collaborate across schools to support appropriate placement decisions and successful transitions, underpinned by ESF’s inclusive values.

Professional Learning and Network Leadership:


Co-facilitate the Learning Diversity Network across ESF and lead associated working groups.


Design and implement professional learning initiatives that align with Vision 2030 and Inclusion Evolution priorities.


Lead projects and initiatives that enhance inclusive school cultures and promote evidence-informed practices.

Collaboration and Communication:


Serve as a key liaison between schools and the Head of Education – Student Support.


Foster effective working relationships among schools, central teams, and relevant external partners.


Clearly, sensitively, and transparently communicate complex policy developments and system changes.

Requirements


Recognized teaching qualification with substantial school-based experience in Kindergarten and/or Primary.


An additional qualification in special education, inclusive education, learning diversity, or a related field is highly desirable.


At least four years of experience in leading inclusive education, special education, or student support services within a Kindergarten and/or Primary context.


Experience in system improvement, policy implementation, or leading change initiatives is preferred.
