About This Role

Instructional Leadership (KS4 Focus)
Collaborate closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to uphold and enhance exceptional standards of teaching and learning across Key Stage 4. Advocate for evidence-based practices, impactful teaching methods, and effective assessment strategies that lead to impressive GCSE results. Evaluate teaching quality through lesson observations, work analysis, and data review, ensuring all learners experience consistency, challenge, and progress.

Curriculum and Assessment (KS4)
Oversee the strategic planning, execution, and assessment of the KS4 curriculum. Guarantee that schemes of work are ambitious, well-structured, and in alignment with examination board standards. Supervise assessment protocols at KS4, which include internal moderation, intervention strategies, and tracking student progress to ensure high attainment and added value.

Raising Standards and Outcomes
Utilize performance data to pinpoint trends, gaps, and priorities at KS4. Develop and implement focused intervention strategies for groups that are underperforming, including disadvantaged students and those with additional needs. Hold middle leaders accountable for maintaining high standards within their departments while assisting them in driving measurable improvements.

Staff Development and Professional Growth
Direct professional development initiatives specifically related to delivering high-quality teaching at KS4, covering exam readiness, feedback mechanisms, curriculum design, and adaptive teaching methods. Mentor and coach middle leaders and classroom educators to enhance pedagogy and improve student outcomes. Participate in performance management processes with a focus on classroom impact.

Student Achievement and Academic Culture
Cultivate an environment of high expectations, academic aspiration, and personal accountability throughout KS4. Ensure that robust systems are established to support student progress, engagement, and well-being, especially in examination years. Collaborate with pastoral leaders to eliminate barriers to learning and secure positive post-school destinations for all students.

Quality Assurance and Accountability
Implement and sustain thorough quality assurance measures to assess teaching effectiveness, curriculum impact, and student progress at KS4. Provide regular updates to the Headteacher and Governors regarding standards, progress, and examination results. Ensure adherence to national standards and examination regulations.

Parental and Stakeholder Engagement
Forge strong partnerships with parents and guardians, particularly regarding KS4 pathways, options, and examination preparation. Communicate effectively about progress, expectations, and support strategies to optimize student success.

School Leadership and Management

Compensation
