About This Role
Duties
•
Design, organize, and deliver instruction that aligns with the Cambridge curriculum and school standards, catering to the diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs of students.
•
Create and implement lesson plans that employ a wide variety of effective teaching techniques and strategies to ensure individual success for each student.
•
Provide personalized instruction both individually and in small groups, adapting the curriculum to suit students with differing intellectual and scientific abilities and various instructional activities.
•
Instruct students on the proper handling and usage of tools and equipment.
•
Maintain a safe environment in the Science labs, adhering to Health and Safety protocols, and ensure that the furniture and overall setting are well-kept, reporting any issues to the facilities manager.
•
Facilitate effective communication through appropriate instruction that enhances each student's knowledge and skills at their designated grade level and subjects.
•
Conduct academic assessments to gauge student progress toward meeting academic objectives and knowledge acquisition, and prepare necessary written and verbal progress reports for relevant stakeholders.
•
Monitor and assess student wellbeing as both a subject teacher and homeroom teacher, promoting their personal and social development.
•
Establish and uphold standards of student behavior to foster an orderly and productive classroom atmosphere.
•
Remain vigilant to the needs of students for whom English is a second language.
•
Ensure lesson plans are modified to provide differentiation for students with additional needs.
•
Collaborate with colleagues to exchange innovative ideas, strategies, and professional insights.
•
Regularly engage with SEN and EAL teams to adopt a comprehensive approach for students at varying developmental stages.
•
Track student attendance during lessons and follow up on their performance in classwork, homework, and other assignments.
•
Keep accurate records and submit lesson plans for approval to the Head of International Programme, with the oversight and approval of the School Director.
•
Maintain professional communication with parents, keeping them informed about their children's progress and status. Update parent communication platforms as per the guidelines established at the start of the year, adding additional information upon request.
•
Engage in curriculum development, homeroom activities, extracurricular programs, and other growth initiatives.
•
Participate in school events such as Open Day, Admissions Day, After School Activities, professional development training, and Parent-Teacher Conferences.
•
Supervise assigned out-of-classroom activities during school hours as needed.
•
Foster positive relationships and communication with fellow staff members.
•
Ensure efficient use of resources, materials, and equipment.
•
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head of the International Programme in their capacity as line manager.
Requirement:
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science, Combined Science, or in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
A recognized teaching certificate/license in the relevant subject.
Experience
A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a similar role within an international or bilingual school environment.
Familiarity with the Cambridge Science curriculum is advantageous.
Skills & Knowledge
Native-level proficiency in English.
Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, adaptability, and enthusiasm for instructing diverse learners from various cultural backgrounds, languages, abilities, interests, and personalities.
Competence in effectively utilizing technology for teaching and learning, including online learning management systems, online collaboration tools, or online assessment platforms.
