About This Role

Salary: MPS - UPS - £32,916 - £51,048 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked) + TLR2A allowance available for the right candidate

Working Pattern: This is a permanent position working 0.8 FTE, 39 weeks per year.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly skilled Teacher of Physical Education to join our successful PE department. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious practitioner to take the next step in their career, for the right candidate taking on a TLR 2A responsibility as Second in Department, with a specific focus on leading our KS4 PE Options programme. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about PE, committed to high-quality teaching and learning, and driven to contribute to continuous improvement across the department. You will work closely with the Head of Department to raise standards, develop curriculum provision, and inspire participation and achievement for all students.

About the Role

In addition to the attached job description, as Second in Department you will:

Work alongside the Head of PE to develop and deliver the department improvement plan, ensuring alignment with whole-school priorities. Lead the planning and delivery of the KS4 PE Options programme, supporting high engagement and successful outcomes. Organise girls’ extra-curricular clubs and fixtures throughout the academic year, following the NDS fixtures calendar. Take responsibility for the coordination of transport for girls’ sports fixtures. Oversee and contribute to the assessment of KS3, KS4 PE, and the BTEC Tech Award in Sport, ensuring consistency and accuracy. Play a central role in driving high standards of teaching and learning across the department.
