About This Role
Deliver the designated curriculum while demonstrating comprehensive and current knowledge of the subject matter. Design and execute engaging lessons that inspire students. Develop and employ suitable materials and create an inclusive classroom atmosphere to accommodate various learning styles. Provide written evidence of your planning and preparation when requested. Establish and uphold records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more. Ensure adherence to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
Instruct students based on their unique needs, employing appropriate teaching methods that align with their abilities, such as late-entry students, ESL learners, those with lower academic skills, and gifted individuals. Assign and evaluate work. Assess, document, and report on students' academic growth, progress, and achievements, utilizing assessments to tailor the curriculum to individual student needs. Demonstrate proficiency in using media and technology within the classroom. Support the overall development and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational matters. Communicate with external parties as necessary (e.g., Ministry of Education representatives).
Engage in appraisal and Performance Management processes, as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Collaborate with colleagues to prepare and develop teaching materials, resources, academic courses, and pastoral initiatives. Participate in, and lead when appropriate, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs within the school. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences. Monitor and ensure safe and appropriate student behavior. Strategically plan and implement methods to promote self-discipline and manage disruptive conduct. Exemplify and encourage cultural awareness and appreciation while fostering a love for learning.
Assist in the organization and planning of school events and activities (e.g., inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, award ceremonies, etc.). Regularly communicate and meet with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents informed about their children's progress while maintaining confidentiality regarding student information. Show initiative and dedication beyond the standard workday when tasks require extra commitment. Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed. Carry out other duties as assigned by direct and indirect reporting line managers/supervisors.
Skills Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s in Biology.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
