OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

The American School of Vietnam (TAS) is a leading international school committed to providing a high-quality, inquiry-based education following the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). Located in Vietnam, TAS fosters a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Design Teacher with expertise in coding, robotics, makerspace, and artificial intelligence (AI) to join our elementary school educational team Primary years Programme. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore, create, and innovate through hands-on projects and activities that integrate technology and design thinking.

This position focuses on delivering engaging Computer Science lessons within the IB PYP framework for elementary/primary school students. The successful candidate will also support technology integration across the curriculum, helping both teachers and students effectively use digital tools to enhance learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

+++At least 03 years working in a PYP-authorized school

· Bachelor’s degree in education, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

· Teaching certification and/or relevant teaching experience in elementary or middle school education.

· Proficiency in coding languages such as Scratch, Python, or JavaScript.

· Experience with robotics platforms such as LEGO Mindstorms, Arduino, or VEX.

· Knowledge of AI concepts and applications in education.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.

· Creativity, adaptability, and a passion for innovation in education.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Curriculum Development

·         Develop engaging and age-appropriate curriculum materials that integrate coding, robotics, makerspace, and AI concepts into elementary education.

·         Design projects and activities that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration among students.

·         Align curriculum with educational standards and learning objectives.

 

Instruction

·    Teach coding languages such as Scratch, Python, or JavaScript to students of varying ages and skill levels.

·    Facilitate hands-on learning experiences in robotics, including designing, building, and programming robots.

·    Guide students in exploring AI concepts through interactive lessons and projects.

·    Supervise and support students in utilizing makerspace resources for creative projects.

 

Classroom Management

·    Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to experiment, take risks, and learn from failure.

·    Manage classroom materials, equipment, and technology resources effectively.

·    Foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and safety within the classroom.

 

Assessment and Feedback

·    Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including projects, presentations, and quizzes.

·    Provide timely and constructive feedback to students as well as to students’ parents to support their growth and development.

·    Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate and refine instructional practices.

 

Professional Development

·                Stay updated on current trends and best practices in coding, robotics, makerspace, and AI education.

·                Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

·                Share expertise with colleagues through workshops, presentations, and collaborative

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
