Kindergarten Classroom Teacher
About This Role
Teaching young learners within an international setting in Macau, this role emphasizes the integration of strong character and moral values alongside academic, artistic, and physical growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Instruct all subjects, including Devotions and Character Development, English, Maths, Science, Story/Song time, Physical Education, and Art.
- Organize and engage in field trips, performances, Holy Day celebrations, and classroom observations throughout the academic year.
- Foster strong relationships with parents through participation in both school and community events and activities.
KINDERGARTEN
The Kindergarten department operates as a supportive team, where teachers collaborate closely. We provide three years of educational instruction, from K1 to K3. In K1, there are three classes, each accommodating up to 16 students. As students progress to K2, they are split into two classes, each with a maximum of 24 pupils. Each Kindergarten class is led by a primary homeroom teacher and a Mandarin language instructor, with teaching assistants assigned to K1 and K2 classes.
We implement an award-winning, integrated curriculum that has been developed in-house and encompasses three primary focus areas: Character Development, Science, and Mathematics. These areas incorporate a diverse range of methods and activities aimed at nurturing moral, social, and intellectual growth in children from the age of 3. Successful teachers in this environment are those who can deliver this curriculum effectively, exude joy and positivity, and exemplify strong character.
WORKING HOURS
Teachers are expected to work 36 hours each week, which includes up to twenty 45-minute teaching periods, various responsibilities, and dedicated planning time. Throughout the year, there are approximately 30 days of holidays, including both Winter and Chinese Spring Festival breaks, as well as around 50 days of summer vacation. Monthly Saturday workdays often promote community engagement and additional activities, enabling us to extend our holiday breaks while fulfilling contact day requirements.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The annual base salary, inclusive of a housing allowance, is around US$44,000 after taxes, with increments based on years of experience. This figure does not account for the annual travel allowance, New Year’s bonus, pension contributions, or a yearly re-enlistment bonus equivalent to one month's salary. Additionally, the Macau government provides a generous professional development subsidy for teachers, amounting to a minimum of US$600 per month. Collectively, the after-tax total compensation for teachers is approximately US$58,000.
Benefits include local healthcare coverage, reduced tuition for up to two dependents enrolling in the school, internal professional development opportunities, and support in securing accommodation, which includes a one-week hotel stay.
