Assistant Head of Sixth Form

Kings’ School Al Barsha is seeking an exceptional Secondary Teacher to become part of our esteemed institution, starting in August 2026, in the role of Assistant Head of Sixth Form. Teacher Requirements and Experience:

Essential:


A bachelor’s degree relevant to the teaching subject or an equivalent qualification


Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent certification


Demonstrated strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for your subject that you are eager to impart to our students


Experience teaching GCSE and A Level


At least 3 years of teaching experience, though we welcome applications from new educators striving for excellence


Ability to consistently deliver inspiring lessons with a proven record of achieving outstanding outcomes


Exhibit a collaborative mindset and possess strong communication abilities


Show evidence of commitment to recent professional development pertinent to this role


Bring innovative ideas to enhance your department's visibility within the school


Demonstrate ICT skills that reflect the significance of technology in contemporary classrooms


Commitment to participating in the extra-curricular program


Dedication to the well-being and pastoral care of all students under your supervision

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Head of Sixth Form:


Assist in tracking and assessing student progress regarding their ECAs, Work Experience, and overall Kings’ Diploma.


Supervise super-curricular development and monitoring, specifically coaching our MEAE, Oxbridge, and Ivy League candidates in collaboration with the Head of Careers and MEAE lead.


Comprehensively manage the Extended Project Qualification.


Collaborate with Heads of Year to enhance the Sixth Form curriculum, ensuring it meets the diverse needs and interests of students.


Assist in the creation and implementation of programs and initiatives that equip students with essential life skills, including developing enriching opportunities for BTEC students outside of their curricular time to bolster their community involvement.


Work alongside subject leaders and teachers to deliver a high-quality, tailored ‘skills’ curriculum.


Support Heads of Year in the continuous development of a thorough pastoral care system to promote the well-being of Sixth Form students.


Analyze data related to student performance, attendance, and behavior, aiding in the design of pastoral interventions.


Assist the Head of Sixth Form with the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures.


Support the Head of Sixth Form in the admission process for prospective students coming from outside Kings’.


Aid the Head of Sixth Form in interviewing Year 11 Kings’ students for Sixth Form placements.


Assist the Head of Sixth Form in managing the administration of GCSE results and confirming subject selections.

Commitment to fostering the personal and academic growth of Sixth Form students.


Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within a Sixth Form context.


In-depth understanding of the academic and pastoral requirements of Sixth Form students.


Exceptional leadership and management skills with the capability to inspire and motivate a team.


Proven ability to think creatively and introduce innovative ideas to enhance the Sixth Form experience.


Dedication to ongoing improvement and professional development.


Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
