We encourage early applications.

British School Alzira/Xativa/Gandia is a collective of British schools located in the Valencia region of Spain, dedicated to providing a high-quality British education to students from various national backgrounds.

We are seeking a Physics (Alevel and IGCSE) teacher to join our team at British School Alzira starting in September 2026.

Our three esteemed institutions are co-educational and adhere to the British National Curriculum.

We welcome applications from seasoned educators as well as newly qualified teachers. We also invite applications from teaching couples.

It is essential for candidates to have the right to work in Spain. Typically, applicants are either residents of Spain or hold an EU passport, including from Ireland.

We require that you possess:

• A passion for teaching and high expectations for all students;

• A strong understanding of the curriculum with the capability to engage students through dynamic lesson delivery;

• A B.Ed., P.G.C.E, or equivalent qualification;

• Proficiency in English as a first language. (There is no requirement for our teachers to be fluent in Spanish.)

In exchange, we provide a nurturing and successful school environment with small class sizes, where children are enthusiastic learners with excellent behavior and supportive parents.

OUR SCHOOLS

Teachers across our schools collaboratively ensure that our students receive an outstanding British education, preparing them for further studies at universities in the United Kingdom, Spain, and beyond.

British School Alzira is an independent, co-educational institution nestled in a picturesque mountain setting, located 40km south of Valencia, Spain. With convenient access to the Mediterranean coast and Valencia city, we offer an unparalleled educational experience.

British School Xativa, which opened its doors in September 2009, is situated on expansive grounds beneath the historic Xativa castle, providing a modern and spacious educational setting.

British School Gandia commenced operations in September 2015 and currently serves students from Pre-Nursery to Year 11. Located in the coastal resort of Gandia, the school is expanding rapidly and will introduce KS5 in the 2026-2027 academic year.

All our schools are equipped with on-site facilities including a library, tennis courts, swimming pools, an ICT suite, ballet room, indoor PE area, shaded outdoor play areas, science labs, a well-resourced art department, and generously sized classrooms.

Teachers collaborate across all three schools to ensure a cohesive learning experience for our students.

OUR MOST VALUED ASSET – OUR STAFF

All teachers are provided with a full-time permanent contract from the outset of their employment.

We operate our own internal pay structure, with salaries notably exceeding the national average for teachers in Spain. Additionally, we have an incremental system that rewards teachers with annual salary increases for continued service. For more details on our salary structure, please refer to the ‘Welcome Pack’.

Teacher benefits include free education for their children, an annual flight allowance, work-based private medical insurance, and discounted rates at various local businesses, including opticians and dentists.

We provide comprehensive support for our teaching staff regarding relocation. This includes a pastoral care administrator who assists our teachers with registration in the Spanish social security and health system, as well as help in finding accommodation and navigating daily life in Spain.
